Remove DUI to be safe to travel By Jessica @ Pardons Pardon/Record SuspensionNovember 5, 2019Edited by Admin0 Back to Home Visitor: Thank you for your help in 2017 as I was going through this DUI nightmare. It has left a big stain in my career and my life. I would like to know when can I have my name CLEARED considering that it has been well over 18 months. Btw I travel around the world , and four times a year to the US, and have never been denied access. I thought I couldn’t travel if I have a criminal record? I would like my RCMP record to be cleared regardless because I am always worried that I will be stopped at the US border and it is still a weight on my shoulder. Pardons Canada: For a DUI, you need to be out of trouble for 5 years from when you make the fine payment in order to submit your pardon application for approval. It’s OK to start your file early as the process takes time. Many people are not aware that a DUI is a criminal record. Other names for drunk driving include, Driving While Ability Impaired, Driving With Over 80 Mgs of Alchohol, Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample and Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle. This can be a very traumatic experience for people who get charged and subsequently have a criminal record. Pardons Canada: In terms of traveling with a DUI it is usually safe since the Americans are concerned with more serious offences, however you still run the risk of being denied entry by the Americans as it is at the discretion of the border officer. Once the pardon or record suspension is granted then you will be safe to travel without worry and have the peace of mind you deserve.
