I have a conditional discharge for an assault charge. Will this show up when I'm applying for work or travelling to the US? By Daria FAQAugust 30, 20160 Back to Home I have a conditional discharge for an assault charge. Will this show up when I'm applying for work or travelling to the US? Could I please get some help with this issue? I was wondering if my conditional discharge for my assault charge will affect my chances for applying for work to the US or even if just travelling? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you Answers By Pardons CanadaAugust 26, 2016 2:19 PM Hello Daria, Thank you for your question to us regarding this matter. If you were fingerprinted by the police and went to court then your information can be seen on a criminal background check depending on the type of criminal check that is being conducted. A conditional discharge as well as an absolute discharge means that there is no conviction but there is still a record of a criminal offence. Its best to request a file destruction so that the fingerprints and police information as well as the RCMP (CPIC report) will not show up when you are doing a criminal background check for employment or travel purposes.
