Remove Criminal Record - Assault

Visitor:  I recently went to get a criminal record check for a volunteer position. I found out that I have suspended assault charges on my file from three years ago (2016). I punched a neighbour that had been harassing me for nearly 20 years. I felt awful and put myself in counselling. I work for the school board and have had a clean record of employment. My employer does criminal record checks every 5 years. Will this put my job in jeopardy when they next criminal record check occurs? What should I do?

Pardons Canada:  Most employers in Canada are doing criminal background checks and also for volunteering and coaching.  You assault charges will definitely show up on a criminal background check even if your charges were dismissed, stayed, or conditional or absolute discharged,
